Trapdoor Spider

Trapdoor Spider

File:Ummidia sp.jpgThe trapdoor spider is a medium sized spider that is famous for waiting in its hole with a "trapdoor" over the entrance. When prey walks on top of the trapdoor it sends a sensation to the spider through its web and it launches out of its hole and drags the prey inside.

An enemy of the trapdoor spider is the spider wasp. Which, when it enters the spiders lair, will sting the spider and lay one of its eggs in the spider. When the egg hatches, the larvae will eat the spider from the inside alive.
